  • They wanted my entire couch for free, then got mad it wouldn't fit in their bike trailer.
  • So I recently listed an old but perfectly good couch on Facebook Marketplace for $50. Within an hour, I get a message from someone.
  • She asked, if the couch was still available, I told her it was. She asked if I would take $30 saying she could pick it up same day. I explain that I'm firm on the $50 because it's in great condition and already priced low.
  • She pulls the classic and tells me she's a single mom with 3 kids and really needs a couch that it would be so kind of me to help out.
  • I totally understand but I need the money too so I insisted on the 50. She finally agrees to take it and says she'll be there in an hour.
  • An hour later, I get a text. Outside. I go out and she's literally standing next to a bike. With a small trailer hitched to it. Like one of those ones you haul groceries or toddlers in.
  • CLASSI
  • I told her there's no way the couch was going to fit on that. She explained that if I help her tie it on, it would and maybe if we break the legs off it'll fit.
  • I say No. Also, I'm not destroying a $50 couch just so you can attempt to bike it home. She got angry and said I should have mentioned it wasn't bike
  • transportable! What a waste of my time, you clearly don't want to help people, she said. So not only did she want it for peanuts, she was ready to dismantle it to jam it into a bike trailer like some kind of IKEA speedrun.
  • Checked_out_6 I'm willing to bet she expected you to feel sorry for her and deliver it for her.
  • throne-away. "Maybe it will fit if we break the legs off." breaks couch legs "Hey the legs are broken! Will you take 30 for it?"
  • NotTodayPsycho And this is why everything has warning labels these days! | am currently selling a car that doesn't run. Might have to change ad to say that it's not bike transportable
  • allthebaconandeggs- People are so entitled! This reminds me of when I was getting rid of a backyard swing. It was awesome - it had a shade on top and it folded flat into a bed which
  • was great for napping. My dog had destroyed the cushions, and I knew if I replaced them he would probably tear them up again, so I put it on Facebook marketplace for free.
  • I clearly put in the ad that whoever took it would need to replace the cushions, and also dismantle it and take it away. I said I would provide the Alan wrench needed to take it
  • apart, but it would probably take half an hour. Just making my conditions clear. Also noted that it was big even taken apart so you should have a truck or an SUV.
  • The amount of entitled (or just plain dumb) people I got blew my mind! -I don't have a car, can you deliver it? No!
  • -It's no good to me without cushions, if you replace them I'll come get it. Um, not happening -I have arthritis, can you take it apart? Nope, how do you plan on putting it back together then?
  • -I don't want to take it apart, can you give me a rope to strap it to the roof of my Geo Metro? Dude! This thing is 7 feet wide and 6 feet tall! There is a picture of it in the ad (next to my partner for scale) - how did your brain decide this was a valid plan?
  • -I don't have a car, my friend can help my carry it on foot to my house (5 miles away) but he won't be around till next month can you hold onto it for me? No!
  • Eventually this very sweet young couple who just moved into their first home together messaged me - so excited about getting this nice swing for free. Dismantled it and took it away with no issue and
  • about a week later sent me a pic with the cushions she sewed for it. Was glad it went to someone who appreciated it but the experience made me realize how many dumb entitled people exist. Never put anything on Marketplace again.
  • ErectioniSelectioni In what world would any sofa, in any size or state of assembly, fit on a bike trailer??
  • DC1908. Of course you should have mentioned that a couch is not suitable for bike-transport, this is on you, OP!
